Our Educators

Meet our qualified educators

All of our wonderful educators are bachelor qualified, have working with children checks and have completed training by Gumnut Music.

Louise Lindsay

Louise is the Founding Director of Gumnut Music. For over twelve years she has been working as both a Musician and Early Years Educator. Equally passionate about these two industries her qualifications include a Diploma of Children’s Services and a Bachelor of Music (Voice). Louise has enjoyed a diverse and rewarding career teaching and performing across a variety of settings in both Melbourne, Australia and London, England. Her transition into motherhood has offered a deeper layer of learning and prospective to her practise.

Jessica Chan

Jess has been teaching music for over 10 years. She completed her BMus (Hons) in 2010 from the New Zealand School of Music, majoring in Jazz Performance Voice. She studied classical piano, violin, voice and composition before incorporating contemporary music into her repertoire.

Jess’s introduction to early years teaching began when she taught music and movement for under-fives in New Zealand.

Jess is currently studying her Masters of Teaching in Early Childhood and Primary teaching at the University of Melbourne. Prior to returning to study, she managed the showroom of Melbourne based award-winning double bass luthier, Benedict Puglisi at Atelier Puglisi. This gave Jess a keen interest in both upper and lower stringed instruments, and a fascination with loving and learning music as children, adults, and very importantly, as families.
