Description

Instructions:

Cat Meow

Bring resonance into your “mask” by mimicking a cat’s meow. Start on a comfortable pitch, then slide your voice down a little and then back up to your original pitch. You may repeat this exercise, moving higher each time.

Car Lip Trill/Raspberry

Work on breath control by blowing air through softly closed lips. Add a siren by sliding your voice up and down a scale as you lip trill.

Dynamic Bee Buzz

Focus on singing into your nose and make a thin and soft buzzing sound on a comfortable note. Think ‘nnnnn’ as you buzz.  Work on dynamics (loud/soft) by imagining the Bee moving towards and away from you.

Deep Flower Breaths

Work on breath control by taking a deep breath through your nose and into your diaphragm (be careful not to lift your shoulders). Exhale the breath through closed teeth using a soft and steady hissing sound.

Police Car Siren

Start on a comfortable low note and then scoop your voice up high before sliding back down again. Repeat your siren and add hand movements to match the sliding pitch as a visual representation.

A Whimpering Puppy

Using a comfortable high pitch, slide each note downwards mimicking a whimpering sound. Your last whimper should be long and slow. Keep your voice gentle and soft.
