The Maranoa Lullaby was collected in the Maranoa district in Southern Queensland by Dr H O Lethbridge. It tells the story of an aboriginal woman rocking her baby to sleep in a bed of bark. It uses a waltz time signature which makes it the perfect lullaby for rocking and soothing a child. By introducing the finger cymbals to our exploration of the music we’re helping children feel, hear and recognise the 3/4 time signature.
